History
Suō-Shimogō Station opened on 20 December 1935 with the extension of the Ministry of Railways' Yamaguchi Line from Ogōri (present-day Shin-Yamaguchi) to Kamigō, in what is now Ogōri-Shimogō, Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Located 1.0 km from the line's start at Shin-Yamaguchi, it is a single-platform halt with no station building, accessed by an entrance at the Shin-Yamaguchi end of the platform; an automatic ticket machine sits in the platform shelter. Operations were suspended from 11 November 1944 and resumed unstaffed on 10 April 1953. JR West took over at the 1987 privatisation. The station is managed from Shin-Yamaguchi.
