History
Sumiyoshi-Toriimae Station (HN12) is a Hankai Tramway Hankai Line tram stop in Sumiyoshi 2-chōme, Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka, opposite Sumiyoshi Taisha. It opened on 1 December 1911 with the opening of the original Hankai Electric Tramway. The line passed to Nankai Railway (1915), Kinki Nippon Railway (June 1944), Nankai Electric Railway (June 1947), and the present Hankai Tramway in December 1980. Until the neighbouring Sumiyoshi-kōen stop closed in 2016, the New Year traffic regulations sent outbound trams on the Abikomichi and Hamadera-ekimae services past the next-door Sumiyoshi stop without calling, and for those days Sumiyoshi and Sumiyoshi-Toriimae were designated as a walking-transfer pair.
Notes
Until Sumiyoshi-kōen closed in 2016, the New Year traffic regulations sent outbound Hankai Line trams on the Abikomichi and Hamadera-ekimae services past the next-door Sumiyoshi stop without calling, and for those three days the designated transfer point shifted to a walk between Sumiyoshi and Sumiyoshi-Toriimae.
