History

Sumiyoshi-dōri Station is a tram stop of Tosaden Kōtsū's Gomen Line in Shinohara, Nankoku City, Kōchi Prefecture. It opened on 27 January 1911, when Tosa Electric Railway opened the Gomen Line section from Ōtsu stop (abolished; see Ryōishi-dōri stop) to Gomen-Nakamachidōri stop. In 1994, to add a right-turn lane on National Route 195 running parallel to the north, the stop's platform was moved 2 meters south along with the up and down tracks. On 1 October 2014, Tosa Electric Railway merged with Kōchi Prefectural Kōtsū and Tosaden Dream Service to form Tosaden Kōtsū, and this stop became a Tosaden Kōtsū stop.

Notes

Sumiyoshi-dōri stop lies on a dedicated right-of-way section of the Gomen Line, where the track is independent of the road. There is a crossover on the Gomenmachi side of the stop, allowing turnback operation; formerly a single Kagamigawabashi-bound service turned back here on weekday mornings.
