Location

History

Sukenobu Station opened on 6 December 1909 on what is now the Enshū Railway Line. It was renamed Enshū-Sukenobu Station on 1 April 1923 (some sources give 1926). The station building was rebuilt in 1953, and freight operations ceased on 1 January 1974. On 1 December 1985, when the elevated line between Shin-Hamamatsu and Hachiman opened, the station was moved from Shinzu-chō — across the intersection to the south — to its present site and reverted to its original name "Sukenobu". It nevertheless remained a ground-level station with a single island platform until the Enshū Railway line-elevation project begun in fiscal 2005 reached it: operations shifted to a temporary station building on 29 February 2012, and the elevated station, with the present pair of opposed side platforms, entered service on 24 November 2012. The station carries the code ET05.

Notes

A private parking lot near the station preserves a station nameboard reading "Enshū-Sukenobu Station," used during the era when the station was at ground level, before the switch to an elevated structure.
