Location

History

Stadium City South is a tram stop on the Nagasaki Electric Tramway Main Line in Takara-machi, Nagasaki, numbered 25. It opened on 16 November 1915, the same day as the tramway's first line, originally as Inasabashi-dōri. Postwar city planning relocated it onto newly built National Route 206 in 1957, when it was renamed Funagura-machi, then Takara-machi in 1966; it was shifted in 1968 and rebuilt in 1999. In October 2024, as Nagasaki Stadium City opened on a former Mitsubishi shipyard plant site, its operating company's naming-rights deal renamed the stop Stadium City South, though nearby signage partly shows Takara-machi. It has two street-level side platforms, a retained pedestrian overpass, and connects to buses serving the far side of Nagasaki Harbor.

Notes

Nagasaki Electric Tramway has removed pedestrian overpasses at many of its other stops for traffic and accessibility reasons, but the one here has never followed suit, leaving it a little less convenient to cross than stops without one.
