History
Sports Center Station opened on 28 March 1988 as the terminus of the first stage of Chiba Urban Monorail's Line 2, in Chiba's Inage Ward. The monorail's extension to Chiba Station on 12 June 1991 converted the stop into a through station. PASMO IC cards became usable on 14 March 2009, the station became unstaffed on 1 April 2015, and its toilets were rebuilt with western-style fittings on 9 March 2021.
Notes
The station's east exit feeds directly into a dedicated walkway leading to the Chiba Prefectural Sports Centre complex, which includes a baseball field and the prefecture's main athletics track.
