History

Sōunnosato-Ebara Station was established on 11 January 1999, at the same time as the opening of the Ibara Line. It is located at Higashi-Ebara-chō, Ibara, Okayama Prefecture, a ground-level station with a total of two platforms and three tracks — one side platform and one island platform — capable of train crossing, and it is the only station on the Ibara Railway designated for overnight train stabling. The Ibara Railway's head office and rail yard are attached within the station grounds, toward Kiyone. On the north side, the station-front roundabout has the "Sōunnosato Exchange Center," which serves as a waiting facility. A parking lot with space for 84 cars is provided in front of the station for park-and-ride use.

Notes

The station's name commemorates the fact that recent advances in the study of medieval Japanese history academically established that Ise Sōzui (Hōjō Sōun) was of the Ise clan and that his home domain was Ebara-shō in Shitsuki District, Bitchū Province, the area around the station.
