History

Sodesaki Station was established as the Sodesaki signal post on 1 April 1912, and on 10 November 1918 the signal post was upgraded to a stopping place, opening as Sodesaki Station. Freight handling ended on 1 October 1961, and on 1 October 1970 parcel handling ended and the station became unstaffed; in 1982 it was rebuilt with a station building converted from a shipping container. It became a station of the East Japan Railway Company at the privatisation of the national railway on 1 April 1987, and Eki-net Q-ticket service began on 1 October 2024. It is a station on the JR East Ōu Main Line (Yamagata Line) at Ōaza Habuta, Murayama City, Yamagata Prefecture, with an island platform serving two tracks in a single-through-track arrangement, and is an unstaffed station managed by Yamagata Station.

Notes

The current simple station building was built in 1982 by converting a shipping container.
