History

Shiromigaoka Station opened on 9 August 2008 on the Isumi Railway Company's Isumi Line, in Ōtaki, Chiba Prefecture, 14.7 kilometres from the eastern terminus at Ōhara. It stands about a five-minute walk from the Ōtaki Shopping Plaza Olive, a large shopping centre on National Route 297 on the outskirts of Ōtaki town, and was expected to draw shoppers as well as local passengers. The new station was announced on 8 February 2008, and on 8 March the name Shiromigaoka was confirmed, chosen because Ōtaki Castle, the town's symbol, is visible from the station. The station has a single 45-metre side platform with a three-sided rain shelter.
