History

Shinshō Station opened on 20 July 1975 as an infill stop on the Kintetsu Nagoya Line between Miyamado and Kintetsu Yokkaichi, located 38.1 rail kilometres from Kintetsu Nagoya. The station is built on an embankment and consists of two opposed side platforms with three-car effective length, served by a station building and ticket gates on the west side at ground level. PiTaPa acceptance was added on 1 April 2007. The station was made unstaffed around the clock in December 2014 and operates today as a satellite of Kintetsu Yokkaichi, equipped with PiTaPa- and ICOCA-compatible automated ticket gates and fare-adjustment machines. It carries station number E22.

Notes

Buses do not pull in at the station itself: Mie Kōtsū local routes call at the "Shinshō" stop on Route 1 about 200 metres away, while highway coaches to Kyoto Station and Chubu Centrair airport use "Shinshō Garage," 500 metres north of the station.
