History

Shinozaki Station opened on 14 September 1986 as the eastern terminus of the Toei Shinjuku Line when service was extended from Funabori. It became an intermediate stop on 19 March 1989 with the further extension to Motoyawata. Because of administrative delays on the Motoyawata section, the structure at the Motoyawata end was changed from the original plan and given a double crossover and a stub reversing track; when the extension opened the stub track became part of the running line and the crossover was removed, with part of the site turned into a siding for maintenance equipment. PASMO IC service began on 18 March 2007, the west exit on the Twin Place side opened on 20 May 2008, and platform screen doors entered service on 19 May 2018. Shinozaki is the easternmost station in the special wards of Tokyo.

Notes

During the Edogawa fireworks festival on the first Saturday of August, express trains — which normally pass through — make special stops here; the north and west exits are closed around the display for safety, and tickets are also sold near the ground-level exits.
