Location

History

Shinonome Station opened on 30 March 1996 on what was then called the Rinkai Fukutoshin Line of Tokyo Waterfront Area Rapid Transit, when the section between Shin-Kiba and Tōkyō Teleport entered service. It was retrofitted onto a double-track viaduct that had already been all but completed for the planned JNR Keiyō Freight Line. The stop had not been in the original plan and was added as a petition station at the request of Kōtō Ward, with the Ministry of Transport authorising it on 31 March 1993. The line was renamed the Rinkai Line on 1 September 2000, Suica IC cards entered service on 1 December 2002, and station numbering was introduced in 2016, when Shinonome was assigned the code R02.

Notes

Because the station was retrofitted onto an existing freight-line viaduct, its layout uses two side platforms — the only side-platform station on the Rinkai Line, most of whose stations are underground.
