History
Shin-Nakagawa-machi opened on 20 December 1934 as Nakagawa-machi on the same day the Uma-machi – Hotarujaya extension of the Nagasaki Electric Tramway opened. In December 1947 the stop was renamed Shin-Nakagawa-machi and relocated 0.2 km toward Shin-Daiku-machi. An intermediate stop, Sakurababa-machi, once stood between the two but was abolished in 1944 with the wartime express timetable. The platforms were moved toward Hotarujaya again on 18 March 1988, and on 22 March 2010 a street-level crossing and ramps were added to supplement the long-standing footbridge. It is stop number 41 on the Hotarujaya Branch Line.
Notes
A pedestrian footbridge installed during the Shōwa 40s (1965–1974) to protect children walking to the nearby elementary school remained the only platform access for decades, until a street-level crossing was finally added on 22 March 2010 to improve general usability.
