Location

History

Shinagawa Seaside Station opened on 1 December 2002 when Tokyo Waterfront Area Rapid Transit's Rinkai Line was extended from Tennōzu-Isle to Ōsaki, completing the line between Shin-Kiba and Ōsaki. The single underground island platform received platform-edge doors on Track 1 on 12 February 2022 and Track 2 on 13 March 2022. From 1 August 2007 the station carried "Rakuten Tower-mae" as a subtitle, with the Rakuten logo displayed beside the platform name signs. Rakuten's relocation to Futako-Tamagawa prompted a 1 August 2015 change of subtitle to "Biglobe Honsha-mae", another company having taken up occupancy of the adjacent office tower.

Notes

Soaring office traffic forced the railway to add ticket gates only five years after opening: when Rakuten relocated to Shinagawa Seaside North Tower in 2006, the station overtook Tennōzu-Isle the next year, and faregates were expanded in September 2007 to relieve the crush near the ticket hall.
