History
Shin-Maruko Station opened on 14 February 1926 as a station of the Tokyo Yokohama Electric Railway (now Tōkyū Corporation), in Shin-Maruko-machi, Nakahara-ku, Kawasaki City. At opening it had opposed side platforms. The outbound track was elevated on 31 July 1985 and the inbound track on 17 September 1986, and improvement work giving the station an elevated island platform was completed in March 1988. Further improvement work associated with quadruple-tracking the Tōyoko Line began in December 1993, and the outbound platform was moved to its present position on 15 May 1999. Meguro Line service began on 6 August 2000, and the quadruple-tracking work was completed in September that year. Platform doors were installed on tracks 1 and 4 on 26 December 2015. The Tōyoko Line (TY10) and Meguro Line (MG10) are each signposted as separate lines and are given separate station numbers.
Notes
To prevent passengers from mistakenly getting off at Shimo-Maruko Station on the Tōkyū Tamagawa Line, a sign is posted inside the ticket gates reading "This station is Shin-Maruko Station" as a caution.
