History

Shimotaki Station opened on 25 May 1899 and serves the city of Tamba in Hyōgo Prefecture. It lies 68.7 kilometres from the terminus of the Fukuchiyama Line, and consists of two opposed ground-level side platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge; the station is unattended. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, Shimotaki passed to West Japan Railway Company, which has operated it ever since.
