History

Shimoyuino Station opened on 15 December 1960 on what is now the Etsumi-Hoku Line (Kuzuryū Line) in the city of Ōno, Fukui Prefecture. Built under Japanese National Railways, it consists of a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR West, which still operates it today. There is no station building and the stop remains unattended, sitting beside the Kuzuryū River.
