History

Shimmori-Furuichi Station opened on 24 December 2006 with the inauguration of the Imazatosuji Line, then operated by the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau. It sits in Asahi-ku, Osaka, just west of the intersection where the Osaka Inner Loop Line (National Route 479) crosses National Route 163, and the name combines the two adjacent neighbourhoods of Shinmori (Asahi-ku) to the north and Furuichi (Jōtō-ku) to the south. On 1 April 2018 the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau was privatised and the station passed to Osaka Metro. The single island platform serving two tracks is underground and fitted with platform-edge doors; there is only one ticket gate.

Notes

On arrival, on-board announcements identify it as the nearest station to the northwest entrance of Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park.
