Location

History

Shii Station opened on 9 January 1985, the same day the Kitakyushu Monorail itself began service. It is operated by Kitakyushu Urban Monorail as station number 12 on the Kokura Line, between Tokuriki-Arashiyamaguchi (11) and Kikugaoka (13), in Shii 4-chōme, Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. Built on an elevated structure, it has two tracks with a platform on either side. The mono SUGOCA IC card has been accepted there since 1 October 2015. Nearby are the Shii New Town residential development and Kitakyushu National College of Technology, along with other local facilities.

Notes

Although a JR Kyushu Hita-Hikosan Line station carries the identical name Shii Station, it is an entirely separate station more than 2 km away; it is actually this monorail station's neighbor, Kikugaoka, that sits only about 200 meters from JR's Shii-kōen (Shii Park) Station.
