History
Shii Station opened on 25 February 1943 in Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyūshū, Fukuoka Prefecture. With the privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR Kyushu. The original station building was demolished in 2014 and replaced with the current compact structure. The unstaffed station has two opposed side platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge, and it is served by the Hitahikosan Line 6.8 km from the line's starting point, with one train per hour during the daytime, increasing to two per hour during the morning and evening peaks.
