History
Seto Station opened on 18 March 1891 with the San'yō Railway's extension from Mitsuishi to Okayama, in what is now Higashi-ku, Okayama. The line was nationalised on 1 December 1906 and the station was assigned to the San'yō Main Line on 12 October 1909. Freight handling ended in August 1971 and parcel handling in February 1985, and JR West took over with the 1 April 1987 privatisation. ICOCA service began on 1 September 2007; a south exit, elevator and replacement footbridge opened on 17 March 2011. The Midori-no-Madoguchi closed on 5 February 2019, replaced by a Midori-no-Kenbaiki Plus, and station number JR-S06 was introduced in September 2020.
Notes
From May 2015 Seto was used as the locomotive-changeover station for the chartered "Special Twilight Express" service, on the outbound leg of its San'in route only.
