Location

History

Senoue Station opened on 1 July 1988 on the Abukuma Express Line in the city of Fukushima, Fukushima Prefecture, when the line was inaugurated as a successor to the former JNR Marumori Line. The station sits 7.5 km from the Fukushima terminus and has two opposed side platforms serving two tracks; there is no in-station footbridge or level crossing, so passengers reaching the opposite platform must leave the platform and pass beneath the tracks beside the city road. There is no station building, and the station is unattended. The surrounding area is mixed residential and industrial, with housing to the north and an industrial estate and apple orchards to the south. The station’s catchphrase is “the village of apples”. In fiscal 2016 the station averaged 162 boarding passengers per day. Land set aside for a safety siding, reserved when the Marumori Line was built so that long formations such as freight trains could pass there, still lies well away from the platforms.

Notes

Senoue retains an unused safety-siding zone, reserved when the Marumori Line was built so that long formations such as freight trains could pass there; it sits well away from the current platforms.
