History
Sekime-Seiiku Station opened on 24 December 2006, at the same time as the opening of the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau's Imazatosuji Line. The station is at Sekime 5-chōme, Jōtō Ward, Osaka City, adjacent to Keihan Electric Railway's Sekime Station on the Keihan Main Line. Its working name was simply "Sekime," but to avoid confusion with Sekime-Takadono Station on the Tanimachi Line (about 300 meters to the north), the nearby place name "Seiiku" was added to form its current name. It became an Osaka Metro station with the privatization of the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau on 1 April 2018. Its platforms, each a single platform serving one track, are arranged on two separate underground levels, with Track 1 on basement level 2 and Track 2 on basement level 4, a layout unique among Osaka Metro stations.
Notes
The depth from ground level to the platform for trains toward Idakano is 25.9 meters, the second-deepest of any Osaka Metro station after Osaka Business Park Station.
