History
Seki Station opened on 5 October 1923 as Mino-Seki Station, when the Railway Ministry's Etsumi-Nan Line opened between Mino-Ōta and Mino-machi Station (present-day Mino-shi Station). Freight handling ended in 1974, and the station lost its staff in 1985. On 11 December 1986 the line passed from Japanese National Railways to the Nagaragawa Railway, and the station was renamed Seki. From 1999 to 2005 an adjacent Meitetsu Minomachi Line stop of the same name also served the site, closing when that line was abolished. Today Seki is a staffed, two-platform stop on the Nagaragawa Railway's Etsumi-Nan Line, with a depot beside the building.
Notes
In October 1965, during a tour of Gifu Prefecture that Emperor Shōwa and Empress Kōjun made for the 20th National Sports Festival, an imperial train bound for Gujō-Hachiman Station departed from this station, then still named Mino-Seki Station.
