History

Sawaragi Station opened on 22 August 1997 when the Osaka Monorail Main Line was extended from Minami-Ibaraki through to Kadoma-shi. Platform screen doors were brought into service on 30 July 2022. The station stands in Takahama-chō in Ibaraki, close to the boundary with north-western Settsu once the Osaka Chūō Loop Line and the Kinki Expressway — both of which run beside the monorail — are crossed to the west, and it is the least-used stop on the Main Line, ranking 16th among the Osaka Monorail's 18 stations.
