History
Sasadaira Station is on the Kurobe Gorge Railway main line in Kurobe, Toyama Prefecture. It opened on 16 November 1953, when Kansai Electric Power obtained a licence to operate the route as a regional railway, and it passed to the newly formed Kurobe Gorge Railway on 4 May 1971, the company beginning services on 1 July of that year. Sasadaira is a Kansai Electric-only stop for most of the year and is closed to general passengers; an exception is the mid-April to early-May period, when snow forces ordinary trains to turn back here rather than continue to Keyakidaira. The single hillside platform has a toilet.
Notes
For a brief window in mid-April to early May, when snow blocks the line further upstream, Sasadaira temporarily opens to passengers as the seasonal terminus.
