Location

History

Samitagawa Station opened on 30 November 1983 as an infill stop on the Kintetsu Tawaramoto Line between Ikebe and Ōwada, in the town of Kawai, Nara Prefecture, near the Nishi-Yamato New Town. PiTaPa service began on 1 April 2007, and the station became fully unstaffed on 1 October 2011. It is a ground-level halt with a single track and one side platform shared by Shin-Ōji- and Nishi-Tawaramoto-bound trains, its station building sitting above the tracks and reached from footbridges on the north and south sides. Land for converting the layout into a two-platform passing station has been reserved but never used.

Notes

Land has been set aside to rebuild Samitagawa as a passing station with two side platforms and two tracks, but there is still no prospect of the conversion being carried out.
