History

Sambommatsuguchi Station opened on 1 November 1987, infilled on the Sakai Line between Gotō and Kawasakiguchi; with Fujimichō, Misakiguchi (now Ōshinozuchō), Takamatsuchō and Babasakichō elsewhere on the line, it was one of the five stations that were the first new stations since JR West was founded that April. A boarding-certificate issuing machine was installed in early March 1993, and onboard IC card readers enabled ICOCA service on 16 March 2019. The station consists of a single side platform on the left of the bidirectional track facing Sakaiminato, served by a small roofed waiting shelter rather than a full station building. The exit lies next to a level crossing on the Sakaiminato side, with a ticket machine in the small structure preceding it.

Notes

Each station on the Sakai Line carries a nickname taken from a yōkai; Sambommatsuguchi's is Sodehiki-kozō Station.
