History

Sakuradai Station (桜台駅) opened on 1 March 1971 as a new station. It is on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Ōmuta Line in Chikushino, Fukuoka, about 19.4 kilometers from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station, and carries station number T16, assigned in February 2017. It is a ground-level station with two facing side platforms linked to the station building by a footbridge. Only the up (west-side) platform had a building and ticket gate until an entrance opened on the down (east-side) platform in September 2006; nimoca IC card service began in 2008. It now sits in a residential area developed since the 1970s as a Fukuoka commuter suburb, with no major commercial facilities nearby.

Notes

For more than three decades after opening, only the up (west-side) platform had a station building and ticket gate at all; an entrance and gate for the down (east-side) platform were not added until September 2006.
