History

Sakurabashi (stop C11) is a Toyama Chiho Railway Toyama Track Line Main Line stop in Honmachi, Toyama City, set in street-running track along Toyama Prefectural Route 22. It opened on 1 September 1913 under the Toyama Electric Tramway, passed to city ownership on 1 July 1920 as a Toyama Municipal Tramway stop, and became a Toyama Chiho Railway stop on 1 January 1943. Wartime damage from the Toyama Air Raid halted service on 2 August 1945; it reopened on 14 January 1946 when the Minami-Toyama-ekimae–Toyama-ekimae section was restored. The ground-level stop has two staggered side platforms (2 tracks) flanking an intersection, nearest to the Matsukawa riverside, a noted cherry-blossom spot, near Toyama City Hall and Toyama Castle Ruins Park.

Notes

The nearby Sakurabashi bridge, which crosses the Matsukawa river, is a nationally Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
