History

Saku-Hirose Station was established on 16 January 1935 when the Railway Ministry's Kōmi Kita Line (now the Kōmi Line) was extended between Saku-Uminokuchi Station and Shinano-Kawakami Station. At first it handled passenger traffic only between this station and other stations on the line plus Komoro, Ueda, and Nagano stations on the Shin'etsu Main Line, but this limited service area was expanded when the Kōmi Line was completed in full on 29 November that year, and the restriction on the handling area was lifted entirely on 1 December 1954. It became a JR East station with the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. It is an unstaffed station with a single side platform serving one track, located at Hirose, Minamimaki, Minamisaku District, Nagano Prefecture.

Notes

The station stands at an elevation of 1,082 meters, the fifth-highest among JR stations.
