Location

History

Saimyōji Station was established on 1 November 1970 as a station on the Japanese National Railways Kakunodate Line in what was then Nishiki Village, Semboku District. It became a station of the Akita Nairiku Jūkan Railway when the Kakunodate Line was converted to a third-sector line on 1 November 1986, and from the timetable revision of 18 March 2007 all runs of the express "Moriyoshi" began stopping there. It is a ground-level station with a single side platform serving one track; there is no station building, and a waiting shelter is set up on the platform. It is located in the center of Nishiki-machi, Semboku City, and is notable for having more houses around it than other stations from the former Kakunodate Line era.

Notes

Unusually among Akita Nairiku Line stations that opened during the Japanese National Railways Kakunodate Line era, it is located in the center of the former Nishiki Village, giving it a high density of houses nearby, and it is a stop where every run of the express "Moriyoshi" calls.
