History
Sadamitsu Station is a station on the Shikoku Railway Company's Tokushima Line that opened on 25 March 1914. An automatic ticket vending machine was installed in April 1983, and the station passed to JR Shikoku at the April 1987 division and privatization of Japanese National Railways. The automatic ticket vending machine ceased operation in April 2019. It is a ground-level station with an island platform serving two tracks; a well-maintained wooden station building remains on the left side facing toward Awa-Ikeda, connected to the platform by a level crossing within the station grounds. All trains of the limited express 'Tsurugisan,' running between Tokushima and Awa-Ikeda, stop here. Until 31 March 2024, it was a contracted (simplified) station whose combined shop-and-ticket window sold only commuter passes and coupon tickets.
Notes
The confectionery shop 'Kurio Shōten' in front of the station makes and sells 'Uzuimo,' a sweet that was once also hawked by platform vendors inside the station, and since October 2020 has also sold the 'Awa Odori Chicken Torokko Ekiben' boxed lunch for the down-bound service of the 'Ai Yoshinogawa Torokko' sightseeing train, which began operating that same month.
