History

Rokuhara Station was elevated from a signal stop to a passenger station on 1 February 1937 on the Tōhoku Main Line in the town of Kanegasaki, Iwate Prefecture. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, the station was absorbed into the East Japan Railway Company network. It has an island platform and a single side platform serving three tracks, connected to the station building by a footbridge, and is unattended. Rokuhara lies 481.1 rail kilometres along the Tōhoku Main Line from its terminus at Tokyo Station.
