History
Ōyama-cable Station is the lower terminus of the Ōyama Cable Line, a 0.76 km funicular operated by Ōyama Kankō Dentetsu in Isehara, Kanagawa Prefecture; the company has been an affiliate of Odakyū Electric Railway since 12 February 1957 and is a Kanachū equity-method affiliate. The line first opened in 1931 as a route to Ōyama Afuri Shrine on Mount Ōyama, in the Tanzawa range, and the present operation dates from 11 July 1965, under a company founded on 21 July 1950 as Ōyama Kankō and renamed Ōyama Kankō Dentetsu in August 1953. Cars run at 20-minute intervals and take 6 minutes to reach the upper terminus at Afuri-jinja Station, carrying shrine pilgrims and, today, hikers as well.
Notes
Ōyama Kankō Dentetsu is a member of the Odakyū Point Service, and points are credited for each visit to Ōyama-cable Station.
