Location

History

Ōura Station began on 21 November 1990 as Ōura Signal Box, a signal station opened by JR Shikoku on the Yosan Line between Asanami and Iyo-Hōjō. It was upgraded to a passenger station on 16 March 1991, serving the Ōura district of Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture at the 173.8 km point from the start of the line at Takamatsu. It is an unstaffed halt with no station building, only a shelter on the platform, reached by a ramp from the access road. Just one side platform is provided, on the passing loop; only Yosan Line local trains stop here, while other services run through on the straight track without stopping. The station carries the JR Shikoku number Y47.

Notes

Ōura's short four-car platform sits only on the loop track, so neither limited-express trains nor opposing local trains can cross here — a layout otherwise found on the Yosan Line only at Sekigawa.
