History

Otomaru Station opened on 2 March 1935 as Awata Station on what is now the Hokuriku Railroad Ishikawa Line, in the Nukaotomaru district of Kanazawa. It was renamed Otomaru by April 1963. A nearby halt called Sanjūgari, which stood about 300 metres further towards Tsurugi and had opened on 17 August 1927, has long since been closed. The station has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, is unstaffed, and is numbered I09.
