Location

History

Ōsakatemmangū Station opened on 8 March 1997 alongside the rest of the JR Tōzai Line between Kyōbashi and Amagasaki. Operated by JR West and located in Kita-ku, Osaka, the underground station was named after the nearby Osaka Tenmangū Shrine; its original working name during construction was 'Minami-morimachi.' Station numbering was introduced on 17 March 2018, assigning it the code JR-H43. The single island platform serves two tracks, and movable platform doors entered service on 28 March 2012, only the second installation on the JR Tōzai Line after Kitashinchi Station.

Notes

When the JR Tōzai Line opened, the automated on-board announcements on the Osaka Metro trains serving the connecting Minami-morimachi Station said only 'transfer for the JR Line'; they were later changed to name the JR Tōzai Line specifically, so as to distinguish it from the connections to other JR lines at nearby subway stations such as Higashi-Umeda and Ōgimachi.
