History

The provisional name of the station was announced in October 2000, construction began in 2007, and the final name was confirmed on 24 December 2013. Oroshimachi Station opened on 6 December 2015 with the rest of the Sendai Subway Tōzai Line, station number T11. The auxiliary station name "Sendai Wholesalers Centre Mae" remained in use through 31 March 2025.

Notes

During name selection there were requests to include the local district name Yamatomachi (大和町) in the station name and to use hiragana spelling; the Station Name Review Committee narrowed the options to "卸町駅" and "おろしまち駅", and Sendai City ultimately adopted the original provisional kanji name. Initial daily boarding was projected at 5,813; the FY2023 figure of 5,546 boardings per day comes close to that forecast.
