Location

History

Oroshimachi Station opened on 1 July 1988 on the Abukuma Express Line in the city of Fukushima, Fukushima Prefecture. The station sits 5.6 km from the line’s starting point at Fukushima. It is named after the surrounding wholesale district, where the Fukushima Central Wholesale Market and the Fukushima wholesalers’ estate spread out to the south of the station. The station has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track. It was placed under contract with the Fukushima Silver Personnel Centre on 1 April 2005 and became unattended on 1 April 2012. In fiscal 2016 it averaged 332 boarding passengers per day.

Notes

Oroshimachi Station’s catchphrase is “town of wholesalers”, a nod to the Fukushima Central Wholesale Market and the wholesalers’ estate that spread out south of the station and make the area a hub of distribution for Fukushima and beyond.
