Location

History

Omachi Station (station number D22) is a stop on the Hakodate City Tram's Main Line, in the Omachi area of Hakodate, Hokkaido. It opened on 30 October 1913 as Yayoizakashita Station and had been renamed Omachi by 1938. The stop consists of two staggered side platforms set on either side of a road intersection; it had no formal safety zone until October 1985, and a "tram stop" sign long remained on a nearby utility pole afterward before eventually being taken down. It today serves a waterfront district that includes the Hakodate Marine Research Institute (in the former Hakodate Nishi police station building), the Tachikawa family residence, and West Wharf, between the Suehirocho and Hakodate Dock-mae stops.

Notes

Among the points of interest listed in the stop's surroundings is Hakodate Municipal Yayoi Elementary School, which the city has designated a townscape-formation building.
