History

Okazakimae Station opened on 15 February 1916 as part of the Sandō Light Railway. The line passed through Sandō Railway, Wakayama Railway, Wakayama Electric Tramway, and Nankai Electric Railway before transferring to Wakayama Electric Railway on 1 April 2006. The station became unstaffed on 1 October 2000. It has a single island platform serving two tracks, reached by a level crossing, with the track towards Kishi laid out for through running; no station building remains. The station's passenger base is dominated by students of Wakayama Shin-Ai Women's Junior College and other nearby schools.
