History
Funako Signal Station, the predecessor of Ōkawa-Dam-Kōen Station, was established as a state-railway signal station on 1 November 1927. Funako temporary halt was added alongside it on 17 October 1968, and on 1 December 1980 it was relocated to its present site for the construction of the Ōkawa Dam. At the same time as the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, it was upgraded to a station and became Funako Station, and it was renamed Ōkawa-Dam-Kōen Station on 16 July of that year when the Aizu Line was converted to the Aizu Railway. It is located in Ōtomachi, Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, and is a ground-level station with a single side platform serving one track, an unstaffed station with only a waiting room. It stands at the northeastern end of Lake Wakasato, with few houses nearby, but its station nameplate reads "Sanga Utsukushi Oka no Michi" ("Beautiful mountains and rivers, a hillside road").
Notes
Before its promotion to Funako Station, the signal station and temporary halt handled passengers without formal authorization, functioning as an unofficial "phantom station" that did not appear in timetables.
