Oiwakeguchi Station opened on 13 May 1915. Operations were halted from 25 June 2001, and the station reopened on 20 July 2003 as an Echizen Railway station on the Katsuyama Eiheiji Line, where it is numbered E6. It is an unstaffed station with a single island platform connected to the station building by a level crossing, with an industrial park to the north and homes and rice fields to the south, in the city of Fukui.
