History

Ōike-Ikoi-no-mori Station opened on 22 March 1997, when the Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku Line opened in full between Muikamachi and Saigata. The station is named for the nearby outdoor recreation facility "Ōike Ikoi no Mori." It is an elevated station with a single platform serving one track and has been unstaffed since opening. The station building is designed with an airplane-wing motif, and a distinctive melody plays when trains pass through. No ticket vending machine is installed; passengers take a boarding certificate when they board. Until the 2023 timetable revision, some local trains passed through the station without stopping.

Notes

There are almost no houses around the station; the nearest settlement, Ōgamōda, lies about 500 meters to the east.
