History
Obata Station opened newly on 4 July 1931 between Akeno and Gekūmae (now Miyamachi) on the Sangū Express Electric Railway. On 15 March 1941 it passed to the Kansai Express Railway, formed through merger with the Osaka Electric Tramway, and was placed on the Yamada Line under a line-name revision. On 1 June 1944 it became a station of Kintetsu (Kinki Nippon Railway) through merger with the Nankai Railway. It became unstaffed all day on 21 February 2005, and around the same time the restroom within the station grounds was closed and removed. PiTaPa became usable on 1 April 2007. It is a ground-level station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks, an unstaffed station managed by Uji-Yamada Station. No automatic ticket machines are installed.
