History

Nonoichi-Kodai-mae Station opened as "Kami-Nonoichi Station" on 11 August 1931, between Nonoichi and Umagae stations on the Kanazawa Electric Tramway's Ishikawa Line. It became a station of Hokuriku Railroad's Ishikawa Line with the founding of Hokuriku Railroad on 13 October 1943, and was renamed "Kosen-mae Station" on 11 April 1963 and to its present name, "Nonoichi-Kodai-mae Station," on 15 September 1966. It became unstaffed on 1 April 1983, though attendants continued to be posted during the morning rush until the late 1990s. It is a ground-level station with a single platform serving one track, now unstaffed, with station number I06. A stone monument marking the site of Togashi Manor stands beside the station building. As a predecessor to this station, an earlier "Kami-Nonoichi Station" (the first of that name) had been established when the Ishikawa Electric Railway opened its Shin-Nonoichi-Tsurugi section on 22 June 1915, but it was abolished on 1 March 1920.

Notes

A stone monument stands beside the station building marking the site of "Togashi Manor," the residence of the Togashi clan, shugo (military governors) of Kaga Province, but it is placed roughly 400 metres from the manor's actual former site.
