History

Nonoichi Station opened on 1 December 1916 as a joint junction stop for the Ishikawa Railway and the Matsukin Electric Railway, in Nonoichi, Ishikawa Prefecture. Kanazawa Electric Railway acquired the Ishikawa Railway in 1923, forming the Ishikawa Line. Hokuriku Godo Electric absorbed Kanazawa Electric Railway in 1941, and its lines passed to the Hokuriku Railroad, formed by a 1943 merger, which operates the line today. The station was renamed twice, briefly as Kami-Nonoichi in 1920 before taking its current name in 1926, and in 1944 a same-named Matsukin Line stop was also renamed Nonoichi Station. Today it is an unattended, ground-level station with a single side platform on the Ishikawa Line between Nomachi and Tsurugi.

Notes

A different station also named Nonoichi Station lies about 2 kilometers away, on the IR Ishikawa Railway line.
