History

Nishitetsu Kashii Station opened on 23 May 1924 as Shin-Kashii on the Hakata Bay Railway and Steamship line, and entered the Nishitetsu network after the 19 September 1942 corporate merger. It was renamed Nishitetsu Kashii on 15 May 1950. The at-grade station, whose original building was the only Taishō-era, pre-war station building left anywhere on the Nishitetsu network, was replaced on 14 May 2006 when the line was elevated as part of the Kashii sub-centre land readjustment project; the new elevated structure has a single island platform serving two tracks with the station building underneath, and a station forecourt used by buses opened in August 2017. Station numbering NK05 was introduced on 1 February 2017. It is the Kaizuka Line's only staffed controlling station.

Notes

Until the 2006 elevation work the station still had the building it opened with in 1924 — the only Taishō-era, pre-war station building left anywhere on Nishitetsu's network.
