History

Nishi-Oe Station opened on 5 October 1899 as a station on the Tokushima Railway, and became a state-run station upon that company's nationalization on 1 September 1907. It became a station operated under contract in 1964, and became unstaffed after freight handling ended on 1 June 1970 and parcel handling ended on 1 October 1972. It became a station on JR Shikoku's Tokushima Line at the 1 April 1987 division and privatization of Japanese National Railways, and the old wooden station building remains standing today. Its station number is B10.
